Narrative Structure


What is a Narrative? 

  • The story/plot of a film/TV show/Radio show 
  • Does it have conventions? 
  • Beginning,middle, end
  • Characters- some good or some bad  

    
Types of TV Drama's

  1. Single Dramas/ Eric and Ernie 
  2. Soap/ Coronation street 
  3. Serial/Bleak House  
  4. Anthology/Heroes  
  5. Long form series drama/Lost  
  6. Long-form series drama with some narrative experimentation/ 24 

                           Continuity Editing 


An editing style that aims to represent the text in a chronological manner to emphasize the real-time movement of the narrative and to create a sense of realism for the viewer giving the impression of continuous filming. Continuity editing creates a  narrative that suggests a real experience of moving through time, even though screen time usually covers

Cinderella

Equilibrium  
  • Cinderella is living with her dad
disruption to equilibrium 
  • Dad dies Step mum and ugly sisters they are horrible to cinders 
recognition 
  • She is treated like a slave, recognises that her life is now awful
Attempt to repair 
  • Fairy godmother tries to help her she meets prince charming, who falls in love with her and loses her glass slipper 
Return to equilibrium 
  • She falls in love, she leaves those who kept her captive lives 




Avengers

Everything in balanced-nothing has happened when they are fencing and happy
A disruption when they find out that the spy's went missing
they know that everything is not in order in the school when they see the dead man
Attempt to repair when they attach the underground bunker

A couple wake up and go downstairs to breakfast. They do not realise that they are being watched by terrorists. as the go to the fridge together as they close the fridge they see something that would unknowingly be the last thing that they would see 3 days later they are found and that brings us to now we have our best forensic team working these two were wanted murders and around them lay 3 dead men all in black tactical gear with one M9 pistol in the mans had missing 3 bullets and the gun was still warm from what I can see they came downstairs opened the fridge and saw the 5 men in black tactical gear with ski masks on and he ran for his gun under the table and opened fire the walls stained with blood already by this point

SCH contexts Cuffs

Media contexts can influence television programs such as cuffs with events such as gay marriage being legalised in the 2010s affected Jake being openly gay and having no issues this has become a popular idea in society but also in 2010s culture was also influenced by the rise in hate crimes this context may influence media products because it is something that people are going to watch because it is relevant to today this can be reflected in the way Jake is portrayed in cuffs has changed massively as in the 60s it was considered that you were ill if you were homosexual and would be hidden from he public view especially through media products .
