How do gender Representations
reflect the social, cultural, Historical contexts of the time with both set
products?
Gender representations reflect the
social context of the time by the way the characters are represented in Avengers.
Emma is a empowered woman this reflects back to the equal pay act where women would
earn the same amount as men and be seen as a equal in the workplace. Steed also
represents as a strong man doing his part against the Russians this was a big
part of the social contexts. But Emma and Steed are both white and heterosexual
this is Historical context of the time as being homosexual was seen as an illness
and was hidden from Tv and coloured people wore still very segregated from
everyday white society whereas in cuffs the two main characters are Jake a
homosexual white male and Ryan a black heterosexual single father this is a
cultural context as in the time of this set product (2013) Gay marriage was legalised.
Jo Moffatt is a female very high up in the British police force and equal to
her male counterparts

ReplyDeleteBe careful not to stray away from the question. At times, your question is heavily focused on different ethnicities and sexualities...this is ok, but only IF you angle it towards gender as that is what the question asks.
Use paragraphs to make this clearer, as you can comment on each text at a time.
In the first paragraph, you have outlined the difference in gender. How does Emma demonstrate she is an empowered women - use an example. Overall are their representations positive?
When discussing 'Cuffs', you need to angle this more towards gender. Are the genders within the episode represented equally? How?
